"Please Fix It"
Hello my sister.
What's up my brother?
What have you discovered with the message I've spoken
throughout the years and tears of my life?
Despite the pain, I continued to maintain.
A smile on my face to demonstrate my obligation
To educate the black nation of people who need to pay attention
and pursue the journey of our fallen stars of tomorrow.
Because we borrowed the innocence,
to make cents of their monkey-see, monkey-do mentality,
which they've embraced as their reality
to rites of passage that has managed to damage their spirit
Please fix it!
The bond we've broken from the words that were chosen
and spoken years ago to regain control of our identity
within the community that will be extinct if we don't revert back to our roots.
To be exact, we must teach the facts
A family and community that pray together, stays together to weather any storm.
I must inform those of you who were born to lead,
must do so without arrogance or greed.
Because our flowers are in need of love, guidance and a sense of belonging,
in a world unjust and judgmental in spirit.
Please fix it!
So that our stars of tomorrow
can regain confidence, not sorrow, in self.
And begin to respect and protect
the integrity of our history that brought us out of misery
through struggle, love and unity.
Please fix it!
