Journalists test high speed train

BEIJING, June 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Nearly 200 journalists from home and abroad have come to experience the speed and luxury of the so-called "on-land flight".

For hundreds of journalists this is their first time to experience Chinese train travel at this level of speed and comfort.

They had nothing but good things to say about the experience.

Ito Chitose, director of Japanese Hokkaido News, Beijing branch said, "The train is completely silent and very comfortable. I was trying to write some notes on an interview just now, it's very steady, and I didn't feel queasy while writing on a moving train. And the service on this train is good, just like on the plane."

Many of the journalists are no strangers to high speed rail. Some are even experts on railway construction and train production.

What interests them the most is the technical innovation the train has to offer.

Since the test run, the Ministry of Railways has optimized and enhanced the comfort of the journey. The authority is confident of the safety of the train and the technology behind it.

He Huawu, general-engineer from Ministry of railway said, "Since the first test run in May 11, we have already run fifteen hundred trains, over a total of nearly 2 million miles. We are fully prepared for the official opening. Everything is is in working order, the train will officially come in to operation on June 30."

After nearly three years construction and more than a month of test runs, the Beijing-Shanghai high speed train is finally ready to help commuters on their journey between two of the great cities of China.
