Press releases from 2011 Miss Rodeo Logan County Attendant Shelby Rich, who is planning to continue her education in journalism, were received recently highlighting two of the many events for her and 2011 Miss Rodeo Logan County Kelli Blough that help to fund the Royalty Program.

On Aug. 6, a silent auction will be held in conjunction with the Cowboy Ball at the Exhibit Center, according to Rich. Community businesses and sponsors have donated a wide variety of gifts and items for people of all ages that will be featured on the auction, Shelby said.

Items of note include homemade desserts, men's gifts, baby gifts, rain gauges, gift certificates, jewelry, Mary Kay make-up and various animal feed. In addition, tickets to every major Logan County Fair event will be available for bid.

"We have received so many awesome donations items for this year's auction," said Blough. "There is something there for everyone and I would like to encourage the community to attend."

Rich also reminds everyone of the first annual Miss Rodeo Logan County Queen's Dance immediately after the Friday night, Aug. 12, PRCA Rodeo. The dance will end at midnight and admission is $5 with no re-entry.

Terry Abernathy of the Crystal Rose Saloon will serve as the DJ. Water will be available for $1.

Blough and Rich encourage everyone to put on their boots and support the royalty at this year's Queen's Dance.

Proceeds from the silent auction on Aug. 6 and the dance on Aug. 12 will go to fund the 2012 Royalty Program.

Food is always a welcomed gift and there are several different ways to present food items as a gift.  If it is cold outside purchase a coffee mug from a discount store, put one or two packages of hot chocolate inside of the cup and top it off with a Ziploc bag with marshmallows.  The cup will fit perfectly in the cellophane kids party bags and tie with a ribbon.  Make a batch of homemade cookies; place them in a decorative tin or on an inexpensive and colorful platter with a bow on top.  Jellies and jams are easy to make and are great gifts to give anytime of the year.  There are hundreds of recipes available on the internet that can be packaged in mason jars, which make fantastic gifts for the man in your life that enjoys unique food items.

Scented Liquid Soap

Men are more interested in and enjoy beauty products more than many of them are willing to admit and a nice set of homemade items would be perfect as a gift.  To make homemade liquid soap, grate an inexpensive bar of natural soap into a saucepan with approximately two cups of distilled water.  Using a wooden spoon, stir the soap and water until it the soap begins to melt and a smooth liquid is formed then add a drop or two of aftershave or scented oil.  Allow to cool and pour into a decorative bottle.  Either write by hand or print out a label that includes a message and perhaps a funny wise quote, use a glue stick to attack the label to the bottle and tie a ribbon with raffia around the bottle.
