On the Power Tour: We're surrounded by interesting cars and amazing paint jobs
Jeff and I left Chattanooga about 9 a.m. Friday morning. There were several Mustangs and Camaros that stayed at the same hotel. We never met the owners as they left before us. But we heard them leave. Very nice!
We are still wrestling with a gremlin in the power steering but we made it to Cocoa Beach. Not with out some excitement.
All roads are leading to Cocoa Beach and part of the excitement of the trip is the people you meet along the road. As we pulled off from a gas stop we filed in behind a really nice red Nova 2. We followed them about 100 miles until they pulled off the highway. A friendly wave and we are traveling alone again but we are starting to see more and more cars.
As we jumped on the Florida Turnpike we discussed whether we needed gas. Our gas gauge does not work but after a fill-up and a minor calculation we know how far we can go.
We must not of filled it all the way up at the last stop. We thought we had another 50 plus miles. Unfortunately the Nomad did not agree.
While we were sitting on the side of the turnpike the guys in the red Nova pulled off to help us out. Then another guy in a Chevelle convertible. It is kind of a Power Tour code, no car left behind.
The Chevelle brought Jeff to a gas station four miles away and the Florida Highway Patrol brought him back. We filled up and we were on our way.
When we arrived at Cocoa Beach the Main drag is packed with one amazing car after another. An obvious display of way to much horsepower. Right up our alley!
If you like anything about cars this is the place to be.
Great motors, interesting cars and amazing paint jobs. Sure there are a fair share of Vettes, Camaros, and Mustangs but their are also enough old Mercurys, 32 Fords and Tri Five Chevys to please everyone.
The tour starts tomorrow. I can't wait to see all of these great machines in one place. Don't miss this show. It will be great to see them all downtown in Muskegon but if you can watch the drive in somewhere you will really be in for a show. These are not Trailer Queens these cars are driven. They all look and sound amazing!
