TRIBUNAL correctionnel de Soissons. « Toutes les victimes n'ont pu être retrouvées tellement elles étaient nombreuses ! » Le vice-procureur de Soissons, Eric de Valroger, s'étrangle presque. Face à lui, sept prévenus, cinq hommes et deux femmes. Trois d'entre eux, Grégory, Jonathan et Guillaume, ont commis entre vingt et quarante vols entre début 2006 et début 2008. La compagne de Guillaume comparait pour complicité. Les trois autres se trouvent face aux juges pour recel. À noter que deux autres voleurs de la « bande », Dimitri et Teddy, n'ont pas fait le déplacement pour leur procès. Durant presque deux ans, le trio de tête a fait une véritable « razzia » dans une vingtaine de communes du sud de l'Aisne, principalement dans les environs de Château-Thierry et de Charly-sur-Marne. Siphonnage de cuve à fioul, vol d'outillage et de métaux, parfois de champagne, etc. A leur tableau de chasse également : quelques cambriolages. « Vous étiez dans quel état à cette période ? », demande le président du tribunal à Guillaume, qui a emmené tout le monde dans l'aventure. « J'étais un peu… con », confie-t-il. « Un gamin mal dans sa tête. Je n'ai jamais pensé aux victimes… » Des personnes lésées par les agissements du groupe, il y en a. En tout, près de onze parties civiles ont demandé réparation de leur préjudice. La première décrit « la mauvaise période que ses jeunes traversaient à l'époque ». Tout juste majeur pour certains et déscolarisé, ils ont cru que le crime paierait. « Ils n'ont pas volé plus pour gagner plus », observe Me Miel. « Pour ce qui concerne mes clients, c'est parce qu'il n'y avait plus de chauffage à la maison ».

Perfectly Amicable: Peugeot 205 Trio 1.1 - Head Gasket Change
I like to repair and make things, mechanical or electrical. Sometimes because of nessesity, sometimes because it might just be interesting (for me!) to do. Ideally it will all be done on the cheap. However cost, either financially or in other ways is no object when pride gets in the way. Not everything gets finished because ideas and motivation come and go. Bits and pieces often come out of bins but don't always go back in. One day, whilst driving home from work I noticed that the coolent level indicator on the dash suddenly flickered on then illuminated permentenly. I thought I haven't seen that before (in this car) but I'll just top the coolent up and bleed the system - or so I thought! It soon became apparent that after this symptom had repeated itself at ever regular intervals that the cylinder head gasket was dodgy. An additional symptom was excessive pressure in the coolent system, it was this that was pushing the water down in the radiator thereby triggering the low coolent level switch. The excess pressure would not go even if the car was stood for several days. If the cap of the expansion bottle was undone after a couple of days of none use pressure would be heard to release with bubbles comming from the radiator linking tube. The engine is of the TU1 type that had done 107000 miles without a gasket change to the best of my knowledge. I had suspected that the cylinder head gasket was not doing it's job for a while by virtue of a oil seepage from the front offside corner. Near this point a oil channel makes its way from the block to the head. This can be seen on quite a few old Puegeot TU type engines. After some diliberation as to whether the car was worth it and could I be bothered the only solution was to replace the cylinder head gasket. A factor in having a go myself was it had been a while since I had had the head off a car engine, the last being a 1978 Morris Marina (1.7) and a 1980 VW Polo (1.0); both with burnt out valves. So it was time to keep-my-end-in so to speak. So as not to waste time on a potentially duff engine the coolent was drained followed by rocker cover removal then the head bolts cracked in the specified order. If one of the bolts had snapped in the block whilst undoing them then I probably would have pushed the car into the front garden until the neighbours started to complain that it was affecting thier house prices.
