Another big question answered: Lightning hand Dwayne Roloson one-year deal ...
To some extent, it seemed that Dwayne Roloson could never really get a fair deal in the NHL. Roloson made his way to the NHL after being drafted, bouncing the Calgary Flames at Buffalo Sabres before finding some stability in Minnesota. That said, he dealt with a rotating guard Manny Fernandez along with the unstable Wild Jacques Lemaire from the two goalkeepers at the drop of a hat while the team deep playoff run in 2003.
It seemed that Roloson has found a real home in Edmonton after the 2005-06 season, however.Even so, the experience was tinged with some disappointment as well. Roloson was the second most valuable player behind Chris Pronger Oilers during their magical run to the finals of the 2006 Stanley Cup, but he never returned after suffering an injury in Game 1 of the championship series against the Carolina Hurricanes. Roloson played well enough on some bad Oilers and New York Islanders teams after-taste of success, but it seemed he would end his career with more "what if?" Questions than fond memories.
Find a home in Tampa Bay
This seemed to be the case as a guardian of the problems Tampa Bay Lightning were forced to trade Roloson to the middle of the 2010-11 season. It was not the superstar for bolts of its 34 regular season games, but they provided a necessary stability, and sometimes brilliant work leading to the playoffs.
Of course, you probably know what happened in the playoffs.Roloson has lightning within a victory of their second ever run at the Stanley Cup final and was brilliant for most of the playoffs, winning 10 games and sporting an outstanding 0924 percentage.
However, at 41, there were some questions as to whether the Lightning would stick with their aging guard. These questions can be put to rest now that Yzerman Roloson and agreed to a world of wins a year deal worth $ 3 million. This represents an annual increase of $ 500K his previous two-year contract for $ 5 million but the benefit of lightning reduced risk of a contract one season.
Roloson still needs a backup
To be honest, the Lightning might not be crazy to re-sign Mike Smith for his help, either ... if he is ready to take a substantial pay cut from his previous $ 2.2 million cap hit. Smith puck moving skills were a nice fit for the defensive system head coach Guy Boucher, then it could be a decent option for a team of bolts that may not be ready to push Cedrick Desjardins to a backup role next season. Of course, the Lightning could always find another backup, but Smith has the advantage of being familiar with the franchise and the coaching staff.

Locke Bowman: Airport Security: For What It's Worth - News Topics ...
Since 9/11, the United States government has flexed its security muscle at the gate concourse in every domestic airport, where passage through a security check point reminds everyone of the might of Homeland Security .
Tens of thousands of us bear this ritual in silence every day. We empty our pockets, place contents in bin, laptop in a bin all its own, coats off, luggage on conveyer. Since December 2001 we remove our shoes -- an odd homage to Richard Reid's failed attempt to blow up an airplane with a "shoe bomb" that month. Since 2006 we display our liquids and gels, limited to three ounces each, in a clear plastic bag -- the aftereffect of the discovery that year of a nascent plot to bring down commercial flights with liquid explosives .
There is no joking around at the security check point. ("I'm sorry, sir, you'll have to drink that up before you go any further." "Sir, I'd prefer not to. This vente latte is actually a liquid explosive. If I drink it too fast, it will give me indigestion.")
Nor would it be wise, at the security area, to engage in serious conversation with a fellow traveler expressing even mild displeasure with any aspect of our government. It is best to have such a discussion somewhere less subject to the suspicious scrutiny of TSA. Indeed, it feels safest to have no views, no opinions in that place. Say little; avert eyes; do not draw attention to yourself.
I like to think that in the summer of 1968 this would not have gone down so easily. It is hard to imagine Abbie Hoffman , or a young, proud Bobby Rush , the flower children of Haight Ashbury , or the Columbia University chapter of SDS silently offering their liquids and gels in plastic for inspection by a uniformed agent of The Man.
Until this month, I have always passed through security without drawing official notice.
The Saturday before last, on the trip home to Chicago after a vacation with my wife, baby daughter and stepson, I had finished going through the body scanner when I was surrounded by three large TSA agents in the West Palm Beach airport. "We will need to pat you down and check your luggage."
I was immediately angry. Is it not sufficient that you've had me remove half my clothes and scanned my body? I swallowed that thought. "Why?" I asked. For an instant, there was a flash of anger behind the nearest officer's eyes; he'd sensed my indignation. His training took over: "The machine detected something, sir. Of course, you can always decline the search.
